 MBNPS serves children from ages 3 to 12 across nine classes — from Pre-Nursery through Class 6. The school operates bilingually in English and French, reflecting Cameroon's dual-language educational system. 

 

The children who attend are among the most vulnerable in the region. Many come from families displaced by the Anglophone Crisis — an ongoing conflict that has pushed hundreds of thousands of people from villages across Southwest Cameroon into urban centers like Kumba. They arrived with little. Their children arrived needing exactly what MBNPS offers. 

 

The school fee is 60,000 CFA — approximately $97 USD per year. For most families, even that is out of reach. The school subsidizes the difference. SONACAM Foundation exists so that arrangement can continue. 

What are the children learning

 

The curriculum at MBNPS covers the full range of primary education — and then some. Across all three primary levels, two subjects stand out as especially significant: 

Entrepreneurship 

Business fundamentals are embedded in the curriculum from Class 1 through Class 6. Children learn the basic mechanics of how value is created, how problems are solved, and how a person builds something of their own. It is Samuel Mbo Sona's philosophy taught as a subject. 

ICT — Information & Communications Technology 

Technology literacy is taught at all primary levels. In a rural Cameroonian primary school, this is not standard. At MBNPS, it is a commitment — because the founders understand that the world these children will enter runs on digital literacy. 

 Beyond these, the curriculum covers Mathematics, English, French, National Language, Science and Technology, Citizenship, Arts and Craft, Sports, Music, Home Economics, History, and Geography — a genuinely comprehensive education for children who deserve nothing less.

The Property — 7,000 Square Meters of Potential

The school occupies 7,000 square meters on Palace Avenue in Kumba — the converted family hotel that became its permanent home. At current capacity, the property houses nine classrooms across two educational divisions. 

What it holds in reserve is the most exciting part. The land is large enough to accommodate a vocational training center, expanded classroom blocks, computer labs, a playground, and recreational facilities. The infrastructure is there. The vision is there. The funding is what makes it possible. 

 Immediate infrastructure priorities identified by the school include restroom renovation, replacement of classroom furniture, school gate repair, and structural reinforcement of the school building.
