Our Vision

In 2012, a school opened on Palace Avenue in Kumba. In the years since, it has served nearly 400 children annually — through a regional conflict, economic hardship, and the quiet, persistent sacrifice of the people who refused to let it close. 

That is the foundation we are building on. What comes next is the reason we built it. 

  • Before anything can grow, it has to stand. Phase 1 is about ensuring that the Metropolitan Bilingual School can operate with stability, dignity, and the resources its students and teachers deserve.

    • MBNPS Scholarship Fund — 20 students sponsored in Year 1 at $97 each 

    • Teacher salaries sustained across all 13 educators 

    • Classroom supplies, textbooks, and basic teaching materials 

    • Infrastructure repairs — restrooms, furniture, school gate, building reinforcement 

     These are not aspirational goals. They are operational necessities. Without them, nothing else is possible. 

  • MBNPS already teaches Entrepreneurship and ICT at every primary level — a remarkable foundation for what comes next. Phase 2 builds on that foundation by deepening the school's capacity to prepare children not just for exams, but for life. 

    • Computer lab development — dedicated devices for ICT instruction 

    • STEM materials — science equipment, lab supplies, hands-on learning tools 

    • Library — books in English, French, and national languages 

    • Expanded entrepreneurship curriculum — business case studies, financial literacy basics 

    • Teacher development — training programs aligned with Phase 2 additions 

    The goal is simple: when a child leaves MBNPS at Class 6, they should be equipped to navigate a world that runs on technology, critical thinking, and the ability to build something of their own. 

  • This is the phase that closes the circle. 

    Samuel Mbo Sona went to the government decades ago with a plan for a technical school. They turned him away. The property is still there. The need is still there. And now, for the first time, the infrastructure to build it is being assembled. 

    The 7,000 square meters on Palace Avenue hold more than a nursery and primary school. They hold the beginning of a full youth development campus — one that serves not only the children who graduate from MBNPS, but the broader young population of Kumba who need practical skills to build a future.
